What is the correct way to bill the ARNP who sees a patient in the hospital; does the MD have to just sign off on note, or does the MD have to make a seperate note? & does it need also to be face to face w/ the MD as well?

thanks so much!

If the ARPN sees an inpatient you must bill under the ARPN NPI number. If the provider sees the same patient on the same day and creates his/her own note for the encounter then you can combine the documents and bill under the physician. If he just signs off on the note you must bill using the ARPN number.
This is well covered in CR1776 and look under shared services
