I have just received a denial from Medicare for Implant Arthroplasty of lesser MTP joint, coded with unlisted code 28899. This was AFTER appealing with notes. They tell me the procedure is only approved for use in the great toe and any other toe is considered experimental and not medically necessary.
Is there anyone else out there who codes these procedures? Can you give me any advice?

I feel your pain. I am always at a loss trying to figure out how to bill these. Someone out there has to have some experience with these. Please help.
