I need help with coding an Arthroscopic Chondroplasty of the patella with a limited synovectomy and OPEN Osteochondral Allograft Transplant medial femoral condyle

27415 Osteochondral Allograft (MFC), Open
29877 Chondroplasty, patella (different compartment), Arthroscopy

According to AAOS CodeX, open or arthroscopy limited synovectomy is inclusive to 27415 and chondroplasty of same compartment would be inclusive.

Darlene, if the arthroscopic synovectomy was performed in the medial gutter excising the medial synovial shelf back to stable margin would you not code the surgery for both procedures as follows:

27415
29875-51

Glad to help! Per AAOS CodeX 29875 is considered inclusive to 27415. (especially if everything is performed in the medial compartment)
