Good Morning,
My surgeon is doing a wrist arthroscopy with a TFCC repair. While in the wrist he finds osteonecrosis of the "proximal and dorsal aspect of the lunate". He does a "partial excision to reach healthier more stable edges of the bone and cartilage. He states about 10-20% of the proximal and dorsal aspect of the lunate was removed by arthroscopic patrial lunate excision." He wants to bill 25210 for this which or course is not correct since that is an open procedure.
My question is, is this partial lunate excision part of the code, 29846 for the TFCC debridement and repair, or will I need to use an unlisted code compared to 25210?
Thanks for the assistance!
Jodi
