Physician coding and the ASC coding should be exactly same on the same patient in the same scenario ? Am I right or wrong ? Please explian. Any help would be great.

When a physician performs a procedure in a facility be it ASC or outpatient, then the procedure code is to be the same since we are all using the same procedure note to obtain our codes. If they are not it is not necessarily a problem unless it happens all the time, if you are differnt more times than you are the same, then it is time to get the coders together to find out why that is happening. The physician E&M levels do not have to match the outpatient E&M levels as different things are being measured with the same codes. I hope this has been of some help.
