Hello!

Could anyone tell me that the IO ASC Payment indicator stands for? Google and books have been failing me and no one in my office seems to know what it means.

1O -- "Prover participates in Medicare and accepts assignment"

I found this information going through the links from the CMS Ambulatory Surgical Center page. https://www.cms.gov/Center/Provider-Type/Ambulatory-Surgical-Centers-ASC-Center.html

I then went to "Claim Adjustment Reason and Remittance Advice Remark Codes" http://www.wpc-edi.com/reference/

Under "Provider Characteristics Codes" is where I found the "1O"

There are several different links in there with several reference codes. I bookmarked the page -- as I found it very helpful as well.
