Trying to code a procedure where patient had L subclavian artery ballooned along with celiac artery stent placed. The provider had planned on possibly also stenting the SMA but worked for over an hour using different wires and catheters to gain access to the SMA which ultimately proved futile. The provider then decided to just complete the procedure. Confused if it is more appropriate to code only the subclavian balloon angioplasty and celiac stenting or if there is something else that should be captured for the attempt to gain access to the SMA. Is there an additional CPT code or modifier that should be used?
