It is my understanding that student cannot be billed under the Audiologists NPI, looking at CMS guidelines. We are an ENT practice and we could bill under the physicians. My concern is that this student must have direct supervision by our Audiologist for her internship, so how would Medicare view this? Would it be appropriate to bill the entire audio under the physician or could the Audiologist sign off on the technical component and the physician on the professional component (he would read and interpret the audio), then we would just bill with a PC modifier?
