My co-worker and I have differing oppions on what can be used for 'Severity' in the HPI.

The example we have is: 'Patient is now status post right below-knee amputation on 5/31 secondary to ASPVD with ulcer on right foot/leg and gangrene...'

Can gangrene be used for 'Severity'??

All input is welcome!

If the patient is s/p right BKA then he/she no longer has a right foot/leg so the ASPVD, ulcer and gangrene now become past history.
