How many ASC coders out there have problems with what the booking was compare to what actual you coded. Had a couple of times that we got authorization for certain procedures and the code is different from the booking to the actual procedure when finished. Ever had that problem ?
 
I do. mostly with biopsies. Our physicians like to exsise the entire tumor/mass/lipoma etc. So then it becomes an excision code rather than biopsy and they didn't pre auth the code that is billed. My administrator just asked me about that and now they are pre authing biopsy and or excision:)
