I have a 2 part question: We have nurses calling patients prior to their AWV to document the components of the AWV then the patient is seen either later in the day or next day by the provider. The provider will complete the AWV and possibly a separate E/M if applicable. 1st question - can a nurse perform and document a AWV via telehealth and the provider bill for the AWV? Wouldn't the provider have to perform the telehealth visit? 2nd question - I was personally asked this question and I'm unsure of how to respond. If a nurse calls the patient in the morning in anticipation of the patient's afternoon AWV (documents the components of the AWV) with the provider but then cancels how many days are reasonable for the nurse to schedule a telehealth visit to finish the remainder of the AWV?
