Wiki B-12 Injections

I have been asked a question regarding the billing of the administration of B-12. If a patient comes to the office for a B-12 injection and the nurse administers the injection, but her physician is on vacation, can the administration charge be billed under the doctors name?

no you cannot use the physician NPI if that physician is not in the officw when the service is rendered. If there is no physician or NP in the office to provide supervision, the no services should be performed by any staff.
