Wiki Bad Debt Patient Policy

We have a policy on how to handle bad debt accounts, but our policy does not say anything about accepting patients back into the practice once they are bad debt. My physician will accept some patients back, but not others who have a bad debt. Does anyone have a policy they would like to share so I may present them to my doc?

We do allow bad debt patients to come back. If they been turned to collections we require that they pay the collections amount before they can return and if they are self pay they are required to bring the PIF amount to the office visit and if they have insurance we check benefits in advance and call and tell them what they will need to pay to be seen and they are required to pay that in advance.

We allow bad debt patients to come back as well. If they were sent to collections we don't let them come back until they have paid the collection company.
