Wiki Band adjustment question

Often times our surgeon performs the lap band adjustment (S2083) at the hospital as an outpatient procedure under fluoroscopy(77002-26)

I recently found out that the hospital is billing S2083, 77002-TC. I have never done hospital billing. Only professional, but it's seems strange to me as to why the hospital is billing S2083, when it's our surgeon who is doing that part. Recently we had to appeal one of our claims because it was a duplicate of the hospitals bill. Anyone familiar with hospital billing? Does this sound right?

Thanks in advance,

Odd, I don't do hospital coding but decided to take a look anyway. Shouldn't the hospital have used the code 44.98 - ((Laparoscopic) adjustment of size of adjustable gastric restrictive device and the code 88.09 for the flouro.

Have you spoken to the hospital about their coding? That would be the next step to find out why they use the S code.

Hope this helps.
