Hi all,
I am coding Outpatient procedures for a multi-specialty hospital facility.
I have a podiatry case that has me stumped and I'm hoping someone out there has a better code for me to use for this case. It has been returned to me because insurance didn't like my diagnosis and procedure combo...
The patient had diagnoses of tarsal tunnel G57.52, a painful scar from an earlier surgery L905, and a "Baxter's Neuroma" - I used G57.61. (I researched that condition and found that a Baxter's neuroma is a neuroma of the first branch of the lateral plantar nerve.)

(The surgeon removed the old painful scar, I coded that and it went through fine.)
He then excised the Baxter's neuroma. I coded 64782- Excision neuroma hand or foot except digital nerve. In the description it says The physician excises a neuroma of a peripheral nerve.

The they are disputing the 64782 Does anyone see any obvious reason why?

Does anyone have a better code for Excision of a Baxter's Neuroma?

Thanks so much for your time!
