How are you billing modifier 50 to BCBS of NC as 1 unit or 2. Is anyone having issues getting payment.

Hello,

What CPT code is modifier 50 being applied to? From my understanding, when appending modifier 50 only 1 unit should be billed. I don't know if this will help you but I did find BSBS of NC reimbursement policy regarding modifier 50 which states, "Modifier 50 designates a bilateral procedure performed at the same session. Use of the 50 modifier will not result in additional reimbursement when used with procedures which cannot be performed bilaterally or for which the base CPT code signifies a bilateral procedure."
