How do you code "alcohol use disorder" ? When this is all that is given?

Hi @cruby82@yahoo.com, In the Index under Disorder (of), Alcohol use, there is a a host of different subterms below it. Personally, I would query the provider to further clarify. Hope this helps.

In my behavioral health hospital, the physician must be queried as to the severity of the alcohol use disorder. It can't be coded as a disorder unless it is described as mild, moderate or severe. Moderate and severe are coded the same, as alcohol dependence, uncomplicated, F10.20. Hope that helps!
