Can anyone help me with a dx for benign prostatic hyperplasia with urinary retention?
Would I be correct with 600.91 & 788.20?

I think benign prostatic hyperplasia with urinary retention can be coded as 600.21, 788.20.

As per Diseases of Index of ICD 9 CM => Hyperplasia => Prostate => with Urinary Retention => 600.91

But as per Tabular list of ICD 9 CM => 600.91 = Hyperplasia of prostate, unspecified, with urinary retention

& 600.21 => Benign localized hyperplasia of prostate with urinary retention.

As "adenofibromatous" leads to "benign", so 600.21, 788.20 is more specific code set as compare to 600.91, 788.20.
