Bilateral??

I am still new to the coding world and was wondering for code 30140 (Submucous Resection Inferior Turbinate) can it be billed bilaterally? The Coding Companion book that I have does not say anything about adding modifer making it bilateral like all of the other sinus surgeries.
Just wondering if I was correct or not in thinking.

bilateral modifier

According to the Medicare Fee Schedule 30140 can be billed with the -50 modifier on one line or the -LT & -RT modifiers separate lines. Payment is made @ 150% of the single fee allowance.

It might also be a good idea to check with individual carriers - some prefer the -50 modifer vs. -LT & -RT
