Hello OB/GYN Group,

Our Attending saw our OB patient who was here for routine prenatal visit and NST for FGR with fetal brachycephaly and suspected type II OI. She complains of increased pelvic pressure with intermittent rhythmic low back pain since she was seen 1w ago. Otherwise she is doing well without problems. She denies vaginal bleeding, abnormal vaginal discharge, contractions, leakage of fluid, decreased/absent fetal movement, headache, RUQ/epigastric pain, changes in vision, ShOB, chest pain.

Non-Stress Test
Indication: intrauterine growth retardation
Gestational Age: 35w5d

Baseline: 0 bpm
Variability: n/a
Accelerations: n/a
Decelerations: n/a

TOCO: CTXs none

Interpretation: nonreactive

We have retained the strip as well, our Nurse needed education on whether to retain the strip for our records or not since heart tones were not obtained and the patient was quickly moved to Ultrasound to confirm fetal demise and the official NST was not complete.

Would you please advise if this is a billable NST and if so would I need to add a modifier to the 59025 code?

Thank you so much!

Technically, yes, you can still bill for it as the result was nonreactive and they did perform the procedure.
