So we have this happening in our inpatient facility where the provider is billing a 90791 on an infant or newborn but therapy is really being provided to the parent due to issues with the child. (EX: consult ordered to assist patient's father due to 2 week old son (patient) being scheduled for compassionate wean) My question is, can we still bill the 90791 under the child when the therapy is really going to the parent and not the child? I feel like it should really be billed under the parent since the services are going to them, but I'm not completely sure in this instance since it's due to complications with the child.
