When billing a growth scan say during an OB's 36-week appointment do you use the 76816 or the 76815? Dx's I would have could be Obesity, Elderly or maybe history of past c-section. Any Information would be great! Thanks

78616 is reported when the provider is re-evaluating fetal size, interval growth, or abnormalities they found on a prior ultrasound. 76815 is is limited to a focused quick look assessment of one or more of the key elements: fetal position, fetal heart beat, placental location, and qualitative amniotic fluid volume. So for the reason your are citing, 76816 would be the correct code to report.
