The company that I work for does billing and coding for different facilties. We have a hospital that from the beginning we have only coded the ICD diagnosis on from the beginning. The facility will add the ED charge to the account. Occasionally the doctor will do apply splints or suture the patient. The facility is saying that since the nurse did not participate in the treatment that we can not bill or code for the procedure. I think that we can. Can someone let me know what they are doing? Also if you bill for an ED charge can you add modifier 25 and then bill/code for the procedure at the same time.
