I just got this email from one of our doctors. Does anyone know what he is talking about? To me, he's talking about the 93880 and the 93930 and when I look at the NCCI edits, there is not edit telling me that they cannot be billed together. As long as they can show medical necessity for both, I don't see what the problem is. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong spot?? Here is the email....
Carotid and Subclavian are considered one study. When you order carotid Doppler b/o cervical or carotid bruit, the billing codes are bundled. You can order subclavian alone without carotid study for indication of arm BP difference, or pre-CABG, or suclavian bruit. The study can be done under upper extremity Doppler.
Cheryl, can you check your source to see if the above info is accurate? Thanks.
