We are an FQHC and many times new patients come with no outstanding problems, they are just seeking to establish care. I would love to know if anyone has had success with reimbursement or if anyone has a suggestion of another ICD 10 code to be used as primary diagnosis?
 
That code is specific for counseling, if there are no problems to counsel, then it wouldn't be appropriate, Z00.00 is a more appropriate code for reimbursement when no problems stated. Secondary codes could be any signs or symptoms pt had stated. If none, then just the Z00.00 should be fine, but always best to double check with the insurance payment policy guidelines, which are posted on their websites, but at our practice this has been a staple.
