Is it appropriate to bill the EP study after the Ablation? This will be for AFIB patients for an Afib Ablation via transeptal puncture. Physician knows he plans on doing the ablation and then will do a comphensive study after the ablation to be sure it worked.

Thanks Rhonda

The EP study codes are for a diagnostic study. The ablation is a definitive treatment. I guess I am more familiar with the EP diagnostic study being done with the decision to do the ablation as the result of the diagnostic study.

The diagnostic EP codes can not be coded just to verify that an ablation was successful or to "be sure it worked".
