We are trying to see what guidelines other practices follow when billing an E/M with a food challenge on the same day. Is it ok to bill as long as the patient was not scheduled solely for the purpose of doing a food challenge? If they were coming with concerns of food allergies and the physician does a complete exam and then also has time to do the food challenge, can we bill for both with a modifier 25 on the E/M?
