I need clarification for what we can legally bill under a Certified Medical Assistant. For instance, if she did a venipuncture, I know I would put the referring doctor in for the order end of things but on the charting end and on the HCFA 1500, who's NPI would I use for the actual procedure performed since the Dr. is not actually performing it? Can an RN sign off on her work as well as the physician?
