I have been a coder for several years but have never billed for a digital nerve block. I work in an urgent care center and we just usually don't get that here. However, I have a pt that had a really bad finger laceration. Our MD injected 4ml of 2% lidocaine via digit block, wrapped up finger, and sent to ER for higher level of care. The way this is written leads me to believe he only injected the wound for comfort until pt could get to the hospital. Would this qualify as a digital nerve block? I do not have access to the CPT assistant and my Coder's desk reference is outdated. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
