We joined a larger group and we've transitioned to a different type of system with our KUB/ultrasounds. Before we'd bill 74018 for a KUB because the doctor ordered and performed the xray in clinic. Now, the doctor orders the x-ray but someone else interprets the results for the physician who ordered the test. Because of the radiologist reading the test, we can't bill a 74018 anymore, right? I'm just confused.

You cannot bill the code just for ordering the procedure. But if the x-ray was performed in your office and interpreted somewhere else, then you can bill for the technical component (74018-TC). The physician who interprets the images will bill the professional component (74018-26).

Thank you for the info!
