Wiki Billing for medical coverage after an SPU procedure

If a patient is kept as SPU status for a day or two after the procedure and is following by the hospitalist service can the hospitalists use outpatient/office E/M codes? They would see the patient on consult first and then follow. The patients are listed at SPU status, not OBV.
