When billing for non covered services (hearing aids that are not a covered benefit) provided to a patient with a contracted insurance do I have to send a claim to the payor? Really it comes down to would the insurance have a contractual allowable for a non covered service? Yes, the patient signs a waiver, but I'm a little worried by not sending the claim that I am potentially over collecting from the patient.

thanks for the help!

It will depend on your contract. For instance at the payer i work for, we work in a discount on hearing aids in the contract for those without coverage.
