Is there a CPT code to bill when a physician checks the state RX reporting system? Our physicians have to check this and review the information multiple times a day before making a decision on writing an RX and I wasn't sure if this is a billable service or not.
Thanks

There is no separate code for this. I would consider it a necessary component of an E&M service, and I think that it could be argued that is adds to the complexity of medical decision making and, if documented properly, could count toward the data points as being history/records obtained from a source other than the patient.

If your EMR isn't doing this for you, it takes less than 60 seconds to access the data through the website (in our state). Another 30 seconds to see if anyone else is prescribing C-IIs or C-IIIs. Throw in another 30 seconds if they want to print it to look at it.
