Could someone please clarify for me if a coder should be using the whole record when coding for deliveries?
Some in our office say they were taught to use the whole prenatal record when coding for the delivery. The delivery note may not have documented complications of the pregnancy that are documented in the antepartum visits.
Any info and/or where I can find supporting documentation for coding by use of the whole prenatal record when coding for the delivery.
