I'm located in Wisconsin, our Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Prescriber only does telehealth services. She would like to bill case management services using 99358, but most of our patients insurances consider the code a non covered service with $0 patient responsibility. Can the provider bill 99213 for services that are non face to face and over the phone with the patient? I thought 99213 is for face to face or telehealth but not telephone.

Thank you for any input about billing for this type of service.
 
Hi, 99358 would not be appropriate here, it is supposed to be associated with a face-to-face service.

Assuming the APP can report E/M services you'll need to check the specific payer to see:
1. Whether it allows audio-only services at all.
2. How it wants them reported. Some private plans are accepting the new 98#### codes, some are not.
