Pt comes in and sees one of our family practice MD's for chronic pain issues and he then refers her to our urologist for UTI and our specialist sees her same day. Can we bill that pt a regular em visit say 99214 for MD and a new pt to our urologist same day b/c she is a new pt to the urologist? All our doctors are under same tax id.. We keep getting denials for this

You should be able to. We have the same thing here only with a different specialty. We have cardiologists and vascular surgeons. If a cardiologist sees the patient, the vascular can bill a NP visit too( if they see the patient, same with our EP docs if they see they can bill as well), different specialties even tho same tax ID....
