Medicare and Medicaid instruct providers who are billing a partial global package service to both bill the same surgical code with modifiers 54 and 55 as appropriate and the date of service of the surgery. What place of service would you bill for the post-operative (modifier 55) portion of the care? Post-operative visits are conducted in the office setting. I’m not finding clear guidance if it should be the same as the surgeon’s bill or the place where the service is rendered.
