We are currently using an EMR for patient encounters and a practice management software for billing. From a compliance standpoint is it acceptable sending a billing question to the physician via the EMR? I have always heard you should not discuss billing/documentation issue in the EMR, the EMR is strictly for medical records only. Any comments would be appreciated.
