I need some information on billing shared inpatient hospital charges for CRNP and physician. Example: Physician evaluates patient then hands off to CRNP or reverse this. I am sure the CPT 99231, 99232 and 99233 or 99223, 99222 and 99221 is correct, but there is a modifier that is needed and I cannot seem to locate it. I have looked under several webcites, including Medicare for guidence, however all of the information is very confusing. I mostly need for Medicare patients but also for commercial insurances too. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Karen.

Also, after CRNP evaluates the patient, should I use the sharing physician as the referred physician on the HFCA?
