Is anyone billing for Ultrasound Guidance for injections (76942)? Have you ran into any difficulties and are you being reimbursed for both procedures the guidance and the injection code? We're looking to implement. I was hoping to get an idea of what to expect. Thanks,

We have been doing it in our office for over a year on some of the shoulder injections and have not run into any problems. It has been very lucrative to purchase the ultrasound machine and bill for 76880 and/or 76942.

We have also used the 76942 for several injections ie; shoulder, knee... and have not had any problems getting paid for this. We have used it for troublesome blood draws and some carriers allow it for that as well as long as the notes state complication of draw prior to ultrasound use.

We've been using it for about a year. As long as you follow the 76942 guidelines, you should be OK.
