hi everyone
We have a provider that is charging the CPT 92136 preop visit and post op visit. I don't believe that this is correct, any thoughts? and is there a good reference that I can show her to support this?

Thanks:o

Biometry is used to calculate the power of the IOL prior to cataract surgery. Why would it even be necessary to do it again after surgery. Sounds like a waste of services and thus reimbursement. It's considered a bilateral procedure by Medicare.

Most likely audit trouble looking for a place to happen.

A 92136 should be billed at the first pr-op appt. A 92136 26 (rt or lt) for the second pre-op with in one year.
