I bill for a Maryland based cardiac doctor who performs cath's at a out of state hospital in DC (Medicare considers DC a state). All of his caths were denied by medicare stating he was not credentialed with that state (DC).

My office manager told me to just bill with another one of our doctors name who is credentialed in that state so we could be paid.

Is this legal? Can you bill with a different Dr's name even though he inst the one preforming the procedure nor is he signing the reports? She is telling me that medicare allows this. She says we can claim something about being a locum?? I do not want to bill with out some feed back.

Please help
