Patient had a procedure done by one of our doctors that has a 90 day global period. Within the global period another doctor from our practice was on call and was called into the er to see this patient. Both doctors are urologist and use the same tax ID. Would a post op be billed or can a consult in the er be billed
 
If the second doctor's consult was related to the first doctor's surgery, then yes, it would be a post op visit. If the ER visit was unrelated, then you would add modifier -24 to the ER E&M code.
