Hello - I am looking for some assistance with a newer (maybe just to us) procedure. It is a biodegradable drug implant used for detox and it dissolves within a year. The only codes I can find are for non-biodegradeable implants (11981-11983). Is this appropriate to code since it is essentially the same amount of work but we would not code for the removal? I am thinking it is not but how would we code this procedure? Thanks in advance for any thoughts and suggestions!
 
The CPT description specifically states non-biodagrable so I would not even consider using the code for this. Most of the time, the pharmaceutical company (manufacturer) can provide you with the proper CPT code to use. This is something they research and have available when promoting their product.
