Another bone d question if the person has been treated for and/or has a diagnois of osteopenia or a osteoporosis and the MD writes bone d screening on the script can we code for osteopenia or osteoporosis without using the screening code 1st because the patient has already been treated for the condition? thank you

If the patient is already being treated for osteopenia or osteoporosis then this is probably being ordered because of the drug to check to make sure it being effective. This is coded as V58.83 with V58.69 secondary. The osteo dx can be added then third.
