BOR or Melnick-Fraser syndrome

AHA Coding Clinic answered a question on how to code this for ICD-9. The syndrome code was the other specified congenital condition code in ICD-9 and per guidelines, you would report codes for each of the manifestations of the syndrome. I am thinking Q87.89 for the syndrome in ICD-10. Per Coding Clinic, Melnick-Fraser or brachio-oto-renal syndrome is a genetic disorder that includes anomalies of the ear, cysts in the neck, hearing loss, and malformations of the kidney so you may have codes for some or all of these. I hope this helps. Cindy
