I'm wondering if there is a valid HCPC code to bill breast tissue expanders to Medicare with? I can't seem to find anything even close besides C1789, and I'm not sure it would fall under that.

Any advice is appreciated, thanks! :D

If you are billing for an ASC you cannot bill Medicare seperately for the tissue expander. They are included in the reimbursement for code 19357.

Ok...

Now that I look at my question again I realize it was silly. :D What my real question would be is if there is a valid HCPC for tissue expanders for private insurance companies.

I can't find any info anywhere for anything other than the permanent implants that will be going in later.

On a similar note...did your office have to contract for this procedure specifically? Reimbursement seems extremely low across the board for this procedure. For one carrier in specific, they reimburse about $1,000 less than the tissue expanders alone. Does this sound typical?

Thank you! :)
