I have a 19 month old TPN dependent patient with Enterobacter cloacae septicemia in Broviac. (Patient has had the Broviac for approximately 1 year) I have coded it 999.33, 038.49 for the infection and the septicemia, but need an E Code. Would the appropriate code be E879.8 (Other procedures, without mention of misadventure at the time of procedure, as the cause of abnormal reaction of patient, or of later complication)? Does anyone know of a better E Code, if this is not the correct code?
