I code for a wound clinic and the docs there are sometimes performing debridements for burn patients. They will use the burn debridement (16020, 16025, 16030) the first time they see the patient but then they want to bill out skin, subq debridments(97597/97598, 11042/11045) on the subsequent visits. I don't feel this is correct. The patient's wound is a burn until it's healed right????????

Any help from others out there would be greatly appreciated. I really need some feedback on this.

Thank you in advance for your replies.
