Hola,
Was wondering if anyone could help me with an anesthesia question. I know that anesthesia is billed in 15 minute incriments. However, does anyone know if after the 4th hour you bill every 10 minutes? I was told that this is how to bill it, but I have found no guidelines anywhere stating this. Also, I am not referring to labor epidurals. I know that is calculated differently. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Time calculation depends on carrier. I have never heard of a carrier switching from 15 min. to ten min after the fourth hour, but I suppose anything is possible. Some commercial insurances will accept 10 minute increments while others want 15. Medicare and Medicaid require 15 minute units.
